Career assessments are used for a variety of reasons including to help an individual clarify their self-knowledge and aid in career decision-making. Wood and Hayes (2013) suggested that a common assumption by career practitioners about career assessments is that they "provide information on self-knowledge, and career-planning skills, all of which are necessary for clients to enhance their career development and career success" (p.5). In their meta-analytic study of career intervention literature, Brown and Ryan Krane (2000) found that on average, individuals who received a career intervention such as a career assessment had better career development outcomes as compared to control subjects who did not receive a career intervention.
